Marist embarrassed by Hartford

It's hard to believe Marist beat this team last season by 22 points.
Hartford took Marist out back behind the woodshed and pummeled the Red Foxes to the tune of 75-38.
The 41 points Hartford scored in the first half would have been enough to win against Marist's two-half total.
There are bound to be growing pains, but it is hard to find a silver lining in a game where the deficit reaches 40 points. Marist has far too much talent and athleticism to produce this kind of result.
Luckily for Chuck Martin, Marist has 11 days to pick up the pieces and turn things around when the Red Foxes travel to New Hampshire.
Marist drops to 0-2. Hard to predict anything after a performance like this.

Marist Men will be just fine. Relax people ...Being a Marist alum, I'm not concerned. Chuck Martin is a good man/experienced coach/great recruiter. They just had an off night (maybe an under statement) ha ... However, the one freshman that would have made the most impact, Menelik Watson (6'8 265lb, 20 yrs old), wasn't cleared to play by the NCAA this season. Martin also have another 6'10 kid coming in next year ... Marist men will probably finish a bunch of games under .500 this year but they will win the MAAC next year. Quote me on that one ...

As a parent of one of the young men's basketball players-I would say upfront that there is no excuse for the total lack of team effort and lack of pride that was necessary- for a young team to demonstrate- through extraordinary effort that win or lose, they are going to fight to the last point is scored. this is what the fans and parents of the players are looking for, we know that Marist mens team has a steep mountain to climb to get to the level of rspectability that the coach and fans are looking for- however the Hartford lack of effort has an exponential affect-not because they loss but because the came mentally unready to compete and give their best effort. I beleive that Coach Martin is on the right track with his long term strategic plan(vision) for the team, however i would suggest that he revisit his approach to getting a young inexperienced team mentally game ready. I am looking forward to a great marist basketball experience.

This pretty much was all that needed to be said.

"I would say upfront that there is no excuse for the total lack of team effort and lack of pride"

Not a game that needs to be rehashed. Just saying.
