Season ends in fitting fashion

Marist played its final home game of the season Friday night, and the loss to Saint Peter's was symbolic of the way the past 27 games have gone.
Saint Peter's exploded out of the gate, burying Marist early and often. The Peacocks cruised to a 62-39 victory.
The Red Foxes' offense could not muster much against a usually stingy Peacocks' defense. Marist shot 30.2 percent from the field and scored its second-lowest amount of points on the season. Only the drubbing from 75-38 was more offensively inept.
Saint Peter's jumped out to a 20-3 lead and that was the ball game. Nick Leon scored 15 while Jeron Belin added 13 points.
Devin Price was the only Red Fox to score in double figures. The point guard scored 12 points but had six turnovers to just two assists.
Daye Kaba and Javon Parris tallied seven points apiece on Senior Day. Kaba will graduate and forgo his final season of eligibility in hopes of playing internationally.
The move makes sense for Kaba since he is set academically and the Red Foxes will not challenge for the MAAC crown. After Naofall Folahan withdrew his committal, the writing was on the wall for Kaba.
Marist plays its final game of the season at the Times Union Center on Sunday at 4 p.m. Siena has its Senior Day on Sunday. This should mark an emotional game for Alex Franklin, Edwin Ubiles, and Ronald Moore. They do play the MAAC Tournament in the same venue, however, so it is not their final home game.

We'll be a good team next yr .. be patient people .. the guy is in his 2nd yr and has a team full of freshmen and a serious case of bad luck this yr ... everything will turn around for the best ... God works in mysterious ways!! Have a lil faith. We will be great team soon .. I believe that and I believe in coach Martin ...

What makes you think we'll be good next year? The last thing i want to do is get on the student atheletes. Its not their fault, but the composition of the team is dredful and there is very little promise. Half the team isnt even likely to be academically eligible to play next. Martin has been a mess, but i think he is a good guy, and i hope the best for him and marist.

we will be good next year because we have basically our entire team back and are finally getting another inside threat to compliment bauer. Korey has really improved toward the end of the year and i've seen menelik play the kid is a monster. We will also be getting anell alexis back and any other recruits. don't forget the explosive sam prescott who has been out for academics, so if he can right his ship, and with this years freshman having a year under their belt, we can be a solid team

I also totally agree that Marist will be a good team next year and the in the future. I also attended a few practices and saw Watson (21 yr old) play (clips on youtube also) the young man is def a beast/so strong and effective in the paint ... but this yrs experience for all the freshmen will be beneficial and carry over to a successful near future. Coach Martin is def a cool/ good guy and good/positive coach!

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” MLK

Coach Chuck Martin has handled himself and this unfortunate difficult situation with much poise. I respect the man for staying positive and continue to work hard as well as motivate.

Unless Watson is an impact player, Marist will continue to struggle next year.
